Welcome to the Classroom! ๐ŸŽถ

A simple guide to joining, logging in, sending your practice and putting the app on your phone.

1 Create your account

You only do this once. Kids: ask a grown-up to help

  1. Open this address on your phone or computer:
studio7strings.in/music and tap Create an account.
  2. Type your full name, email and WhatsApp number.
  3. Choose a password of at least 8 letters or numbers, and type it again to confirm. Write it down somewhere safe.
  4. Tap Create account. Your teacher now checks it and puts you in your class (your batch). This usually takes less than a day.
Good to know: you can't log in until your teacher approves you. If you try earlier, the page says your account is "waiting for approval". That's normal.

Did your teacher create the account for you? Then you'll get your email and a temporary password on WhatsApp. Skip to step 2.

2 Log in

  1. Go to studio7strings.in/music.
  2. Type your email and password.
  3. Leave "Keep me logged in on this device" ticked on your own phone, so you don't have to log in every time. Untick it on a shared or family computer.
  4. Tap Log in.
๐Ÿ”’ Got a temporary password? The first time you log in, the app asks you to choose your own new password. Type the temporary one as "Current password", then your new one twice.
Forgot your password? No problem. Call or WhatsApp the studio and we'll send you a new temporary one.
Go to the login page โ†’

3 What's inside

After logging in you'll see your name and your class at the top, and five big buttons.

๐Ÿ“

Homework

Practice your teacher has set for your class. Many come with a voice or video demo, so you can hear exactly how it should sound. Tap Start, listen, then record yourself.

๐Ÿ“š

Class notes

After each class: screenshots of the board, notes, PDFs, the class recording on YouTube and voice notes from your teacher. More below.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ

Community

A group chat with students from your class and other timings. Ask doubts, help each other and read your teacher's notes. More below.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

Upload your own exercise

Practised something else? Give it a name, say what your teacher should listen for, record it and send.

๐Ÿ’ฌ

My exercises & feedback

Everything you've sent, with your teacher's replies. A green New feedback label means there's something new to read or hear.

The menu at the top

Home brings you back to the big buttons. Account lets you change your password. Log out signs you out of this device.

4 Recording your practice

  1. Choose ๐ŸŽค Voice (sound only) or ๐ŸŽฅ Video (to show your hands, posture or fingering).
  2. Voice: tap the round microphone button to start. Video: tap the camera button, check the picture, then tap the red button to start.
  3. Tap the square stop button when you finish. Recordings can be up to 5 minutes.
  4. Already have a good video on your phone? Choose ๐ŸŽฅ Video, tap Upload video and pick it from your gallery. Check it's the right one and tap Use this video. Big videos are made smaller first; keep the screen open until it says ready.
  5. Listen or watch it back. Not happy? Tap the bin ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ and record again.
  6. Tap Send to teacher and wait until it says Sent.
The first time, your phone asks "Allow microphone?" (and camera for video). Tap Allow. If you tapped "Don't allow" by mistake, see Help.
For a good recording: sit somewhere quiet, switch off the fan if you can, and keep the phone about an arm's length away. For video, lean the phone against something steady so both hands are in view.

If the internet drops while sending, don't worry: your recording stays on the page. Press Send again when you're back online; videos carry on from where they stopped.

5 Class notes: everything from each class

Your teacher adds a class note after each class. The newest is at the top, and a red New label shows ones you haven't opened.

  1. Tap Class notes on the home page or in the top menu. If you're in more than one batch, tap a batch name to see just that one. Use Search to find a session, ragam or song.
  2. Screenshots: tap one to see it full screen. Swipe left or right for the next one, and tap โคข to zoom in.
  3. PDFs: tap Open. Pages appear one under another; scroll down to read. Use A+ to make them bigger and โคข for full screen.
  4. Class recording: tap the red โ–ถ button. It opens in YouTube. Make sure you're signed in to YouTube with the Gmail you gave your teacher, or it will say the video is private.
  5. Voice or video note: tap play to hear your teacher.
Every screenshot and page shows a faint "Viji's Academy ยท your code" mark. Your code (it starts with VC-) is on your Account page. Class notes are for you only, so please don't forward them; they can't be downloaded or printed.

6 Community: ask doubts and help each other

Each group has students from all batches of the same class: Carnatic Kids, Carnatic Adults or Cine Music. You only see your own group.

  1. Tap Community on the home page or in the top menu. A red number shows new messages.
  2. Type your question in the box at the bottom and tap Send.
  3. To show something, tap ๐Ÿ“ท Photo (for example a page from your book), or tap the microphone to send a voice note of up to 2 minutes.
  4. To answer someone, tap โ†ฉ Reply under their message, so everyone knows what you're answering.
  5. Open ๐Ÿ“’ Teacher's notes at the top to read notation, lyrics and tips from your teacher. They're always there to come back to.
Please remember: be kind and keep it about music. Don't share phone numbers, addresses or emails. Your teacher can see every message. Kids: links and numbers are blocked to keep you safe

See something that isn't right? Tap โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข on the message, then ๐Ÿšฉ Report to teacher. You can also remove your own messages from the same menu.

You'll get a daily summary email (subject starting with [Classroom]) when there's something new. To stop it, untick it on your Account page.

7 Put the Classroom on your phone's home screen

It then opens like an app, with its own icon, in one tap. Choose your phone:

Use Safari, the blue compass app. (Other browsers on iPhone may only add a bookmark.)

  1. Open Safari and go to studio7strings.in/music.
  2. Find the Share button Share (a square with an arrow pointing up). Where it is depends on your phone:
    iPhone with iOS 26 (newest)

Tap the โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข button at the bottom right of the screen, then tap Share.

iPhone with iOS 15 to 18

The Share button is in the middle of the bar at the bottom of the screen. If you can't see the bar, scroll up a little.

If you moved Safari's address bar to the top, the Share button is still at the bottom.

    iPad

The Share button is at the top right, next to the address bar.

Not sure which iOS you have?

Open Settings โ†’ General โ†’ About and look at iOS Version. Or simply look for the Share symbol at the bottom; if it isn't there, tap โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข.

  3. Scroll down the list that opens and tap Add to Home Screen โž•. (On some phones, tap View More first.)
  4. If you see Open as Web App, make sure it's switched on.
  5. Tap Add at the top right. The Viji's Classroom icon now appears on your home screen.
The app keeps its own login, so log in once more the first time you open it from the icon.
Opened the link from WhatsApp? WhatsApp shows pages in its own small browser, which can't add apps. Tap the โ‹ฎ or โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข menu in WhatsApp's browser and choose Open in Chrome (Android) or Open in Safari (iPhone), then follow the steps above.

? Help and common questions

It says my account is waiting for approval.
Your teacher hasn't approved it yet. Give it a little time, or send us a WhatsApp message.
It says my email and password don't match.
Check for spelling mistakes and that Caps Lock is off. After 5 wrong tries the login pauses for 15 minutes. If you've forgotten the password, ask us for a new one.
The microphone or camera won't start.
iPhone: Settings โ†’ Safari โ†’ Microphone (and Camera) โ†’ Ask or Allow. Android: in Chrome tap the ๐Ÿ”’ lock or settings icon next to the address โ†’ Permissions โ†’ allow Microphone and Camera. Then reload the page.
Also make sure no other app (a call, WhatsApp, a music app) is using the microphone.
My recording sounds very quiet.
Move the phone a little closer and check the phone isn't on silent mode while you play it back. Turn up the volume while it's playing.
Can my child and I use the same phone?
Yes. Each person needs their own account. Log out (top menu) before the other person logs in, and untick "Keep me logged in".
Who can see my recordings?
Only you and your teacher. Other students can't see or hear them.
